Relationships

Just like on Earth, love is real and ever present.  Though, why would this be of interest, well, in Elementia there are certain customs that are different than what one might expect.  Here are a few topics that look at love and relationships in Elementia:

General:  For the most part, love in Elementia is similar to that of Earth.  People fall in love based on their personal criteria.  There are several questions that might arise though.  One, it does not matter what type of elemental you are, the element you study does not determine who you can fall in love with.  Two, in programs such as the military or guardians, there is to be no public displays of affection or having a couple stationed in the same place.

Kiss of Honor:  Yes, that is a tacky title for it, but I didn't have anything better right now.  For the most part, on Earth, a kiss on the lips shows the highest sign of love between two individuals.  In Elementia, the place of love is the forehead.  Kissing on the lips is still a sign of love, however, a kiss to the forehead represents the deepest form of love and respect (you will only do this to the one you are either betrothed to or married to).

Vows:  On Earth, a wedding usually includes readings from a religious book or writing based on the culture(s) of the two.  In Elementia, there is a reading from the Valex, which is the elemental book of advice/proverbs of good life and love.  The book is not long and holds many stories of living a good life.

Tokens of Love:  A ring is the common form of unification for marriages on Earth, however, in Elementia it is all about something personal.  Usually, the couple will exchange a gift that is made by the individual, sometimes, the maker includes elemental energy, bit of blood, or some other item that adds a personal connection.  Also, where as the ring is common, it is more common to come across a necklace, especially for elementalists (due to rings could hinder an elementalist during battle).

These are some of the subjects that come up in the books about love, especially in Volume 2.

NOTE:  I will be starting work at a summer camp in a few short days and will not be able to post often if at all until it is over.  I will try to do an update, if not, I will do one as soon as I get a chance.  Leave a comment on a subject you might be interested in hearing about that way we can keep running with this when I return.

The Elements

In the elemental world there are 34 recognized elements.  24 of them are considered high elements and 10 of them are considered as a "lower" level of elements.  There are 5 cycles that make up the elemental wheel.
Here is a general break down of the rings:
Inner Elements:  Purity, Question, Option, and Answer
Life Elements:  Wind, Water, Fire, Earth, and Dark
Inner Ring Elements:  Star, Solar, Lunar, Steel, Thunder, Ice, and Lightning
Outer Ring Elements:  Storm, Nuclear, Plant, Psychic, Normal, Ground, History, and Sonic
Specialty Elements:  Ghost, Shadow, Desert, Faith, Dream, Weather, Magic, Nightmare, Cosmic, and
                                         Celestial

The Beasts

In the elemental world there are several "beasts" that are said to control the original powers of the elements.  Three of the beasts are common to many civilizations, both elemental and earthly.  These three beasts are the Dragon, Phoenix, and Griffin.  An important concept of these beasts, is that they represent several elements and then one special ability.

The Dragon is known for its great power, and is feared by many.  The elemental powers that it holds highest are water, air, ice, and atomic.  The special power that it controls is time.

The Phoenix is regent in its sense and is held divinely by many.  The elemental powers that it has become known for are fire, air, and the celestial trio (solar, lunar, and star).  The special power it utilizes is healing.

The Griffin, while lesser known, is still the sign of might and variations.  Its elemental powers are ground, psychic, shadow, and ghost.  Its special power is the source of confrontation.

These are the special powers that exist for these most commonly seen "beasts."

The next time I post I will focus on the actual elemental wheel, that way you can see all of the elements in existence.

Discontinued Plot Lines

Since I first decided to write the adventures there have been several plot lines that I have discontinued either because of space, poor integration into the story, or when I lost one version of the "timeline" I forgot to add it back in and decided to leave it out.  Here are a few that could have existed:

Capturing the Phoenixes-In the books it was going to become a piece that for each element, there existed a corresponding phoenix (not just for the fire element).  The story is that it is a Jem family challenge to acquire all of them in some manner.  Phoenix would share the challenge with Zach and over the course of the books, he would capture all of the remaining ones.

Shadow Realm City-At some point in the adventures, a "Shadow Realm" is created to hold major evils that either could not be fully destroyed or considered not dangerous enough to destroy.  What came of this, is that small civilizations and temples would form inside the realm and the HGMs would have to at times visit the realm to complete tasks or ensure that the realm would not collapse.

Area Championships-This was a story arc that would have become to complex with the "good vs evil" plot lines that occur so often.  In this activity, there would be challenges set up across the continents where challengers would take on masters of different activities (Creature battles, Spirit duels, weapon battles, etc) and if they pass, they get to move onto the next level.  At the end of the competition, they can take on the High Grandmaster of that continent in one competition (the HGM has a cap on their power).  If they pass that level, then they get to enter a grand festival where they take on one of the other HGMs using their strongest powers.

Chasity-Chasity is the daughter of one of the EL's former leaders, and her spirit was supposed to end up inside of Paige (be a fusion spirit of Paige and Sapphire).  This line was pretty much discontinued as her serving as a permanent spirit due to the role that Paige would take later in the adventures.

These are just some of the plot lines that I have discontinued for different reasons.  In the future I might share a few more that have fallen to the wayside.

Age Related Specifics

Education:  On Earth, education tends to be completed around the age of 18.  In Elementia, this is not the case.  Instead, most of ones education is completed by the time the individual is 10-12.  There is a strong focus on studies in a youth's early years in order to get them into more interesting studies and let them find what they want to do.

Age of Honor:  AoH is also known as the transition to adulthood, or the age in which the youth has "matured."  In Elementia, that age is 16.  This is custom because Elementians have had a majority of their education and have also had many other trainings that tend to make them more "mature" than their Earth counterparts.  This is the age in which one is allowed to marry, is allowed to be a "leader/commander," and any condition that is usually reserved for older ages on Earth.

Trainings:  Once an Elementian has completed their education, based on their age they may partake in certain trainings.  First off, weaponry training occurs early in a youth's education, this allows the student to select and weapon and train with it until they have mastered the weapon.  Usually occurring after the selection of a weapon, the student then begins elemental training if interested.  Commonly, the student selects an element of interest to them, however, there are special cases in which an element "selects" them. The first activity after completion of studies is in ecology, generally this means the study of Creatures, however, it may be of any ecological area.

Advanced Trainings:  These are the trainings that are restricted due to their status.  For example, the age of entrance into the military is around the age of 20.  While Guardian training starts at the same time as elemental mastering, one cannot become a full fledged Guardian until they turn 22, where as one can achieve the rank of Master in their element by the time they turn 17.

It is of note that while these standards have been set, they do not always hold.  For example, the youngest High Grandmaster is and will always of been Gabe due to his youthful age when he arrived in Elementia (though at this time ages were not that important).  There are also other cases of underage individuals stepping into major positions.  This is why exceptions can often times be made.

Age itself in Elementia is only a small thing.  Birthdays are often not celebrated (part of this is due to the longevity of Elementians and other minor factors) and old age is not always revered (this is due to many youth in the past that have proven themselves).

Adventure 1

Good Day All!  Today I have decided to release Adventure 1 for all to read.  The original version of this adventure was written back when I was in 7th grade.  While it has had several edits, I know that there are still some errors in it that need to be corrected.  Even with minor problems, this is very close to the finished version.  If you have interest in reading more, let me know, and also remember, that I am continually working to improve it.

If you do read the adventure, leave a comment letting me know what you think and if you are interested in more.  Enjoy!
